On the Sociality of Engineering and its Significance

Abstract

In this paper, it is argued that sociality should be taken as one of the most essential features of engineering, which helps to draw the conceptual distinction between engineering and technology in general. The author also discusses how a proper understanding of the sociality of engineering provides the basis for comprehensive studies of engineering that embrace the perspectives of philosophy, history, sociology and ethics.
