Abstract
ZnO varistors is characterized by its excellent nonlinear volt-amppere characteristic and very low leakage current under steady-state voltage(low energy consumption).With these features,it can be used in over voltage protection,lightning arresting,surge absorption,etc.The recent developments on the research for the ZnO varistor were reviewed in this paper,which contain the theory of conduction,aging,nonlinear additive and manufacturing technique.It is suggested that the research for ZnO varistors should focus on chip varistors,low voltage varistors and theory of conduction.
