Application of phlegm-eliminating and stasis-expelling therapy in treatment of vascular dementia

This paper aims to investigate the relationship between syndrome of intermingled phlegm and blood stasis and vascular dementia from the aspects of etiology/pathogenesis and treatment.Vascular dementia usually occurs secondary to cerebrovascular diseases like stroke,with a complex patient's condition.It is a syndrome of kidney deficiency in origin and phlegm stasis in superficiality,with intermingled phlegm and blood stasis as the basic pathogenesis throughout the course of this disease.Therefore,kidney-tonifying,blood circulation-activating,blood stasis-removing,and stasis-expelling therapy is the essential treatment for vascular dementia.A proven case is provided here as evidence.
