Theory and Method of Historical Cultural Geography

As a branch respectively of cultural geography, historical geography and history of civilization with its own disciplinary system as a transdiscipline subject, historical cultural geography studies the regional systems and law of shaping and development of varied cultural phenomena in different historical phases. It mainly explores the mutual relationship between geographical environments and cultural development, cultural regions, dissemination and scenic spots and spatial combination and law of cultural elements in different historical periods. Hence, studies of historical cultural geography ought to be made by multiple approaches under the direction of scientific theory.
