How Open & Indigenous Innovation Affects Industries International Competitiveness: An Empirical Study on Chinese Manufacturing Industries Based on the Panel Data from the Year 2000 to 2010

Abstract

The paper analyses the impact of degree of indigenous innovation and open innovation,the synergy of indigenous open innovation on the international competitiveness of industry,some hypothesis have also been proposed.In order to test these hypotheses,an econometric model was established,and the panel data comes from Chinese manufacturing industry from the year of 2000 to 2010.The results show that indigenous innovation is the basis for industries to enhance the international competitiveness,in the industry which has a higher degree of openness the RD investment has more influence on their competitiveness.Moreover,open innovation is an important path for industries to enhance international competitiveness.However,the degree of indigenous innovation and open innovation should be balanced.Compared to indigenous innovation or open innovation,the innovation which is simultaneously focusing on the degree of indigenous innovation and open innovation could bring greater contributions for Chinese industries to improve international competitiveness.
