Abstract
Shutie,an important kind of letter in ancient China,is actually a popular art of language and calligraphy with special literary features.Shutie is generally considered to have originated in the notes of Shan Tao,the famous Jin intellectual,as well as in the natural development of Chinese characters.But there is another important cause in the Jin and Song dynasties,which had influenced the development of Shutie but has been neglected.This is the metaphysics in the Jin and Song dynasties.
