Abstract
Objective To study the disinfection-related properties of a solid chlorine dioxide with citric acid as the activator. Methods Suspension quantitative germicidal test and physicochemical examination method were used to carry out experimental observation in on-the-spot trial. Results The killing logarithm values of Bacillus subtilis var.niger spores in suspension exposed to the solid chlorine dioxide solution containing chlorine dioxide 225 mg/L for 2 min,Pseudomonas aeruginosa in suspension exposed to the disinfectant solution containing chorine dioxide 5 mg/L for 1 min,Staphylococcus aureus exposed to the disinfectant solution containing chlorine dioxide 7.5 mg/L for 1 min,Escherichia coli in suspension and Candida albicans exposed to the disinfectant solution containing chlorine dioxide 7.5 mg/L for 3 min and 5 min respectively were 5.0.The time required for disinfection of tableware and drinking utensils with the disinfectant solution containing chlorine dioxide 7.5 mg/L was 7 min and that for disinfection of fruits and vegetables with the disinfectant solution containing chorine dioxide 10 mg/L was 5 min, with killing logarithm value of artificially contaminating E.coli being ≥3.00.More than 40%(v/v)calf serum had slight influence on germicidal efficacy of the chlorine dioxide disinfectant. Conclusions The chlorine dioxide disinfectant has high-efficacy and rapid germicidal characteristics, but its germicidal efficacy is influenced by organic substance.
