Abstract
Objective: To study the effect of maintenance dose of digoxin in chronic congestive failure. Methods: One hundred and sixty chronic congestive heart failure patients in accordance with diagnosis of systolic disfunction (62 cases with atrial fibrillation) were divided into two groups. in observed group, maintenance digoxin was administered once a day.In control group, digoxin was not given. If there was no effect in a week, digoxin continued to be admistered. Results: bo patients (75%) showed the dominant effect,18 (22.5%) showed the improvement and 2 (2.5%) showed no effect in the observed group.However,36 (45%),28 (35%) and 16 (20%) patients in the control group showed the dominant effect improvement and no effect, respectively. Conclusion:Maintenance dose of digoxin is safe and effective in chronic congestive failure with or without atrial fibrillation.
