DETERMINATION OF RESIDUAL ORGANIC SOLVENTS IN TRICHLOROSUCROSE BY HEADSPACE GAS CHROMATOGRAPHY

Abstract

A method for the determination of residual organic solvents in trichlorosucrose by headspace gas chromatography has been developed. A wide bore HP-fast GC residual solvent column was performed with FID as detector. The external standard method was used for quantitative analysis. The effects of the equilibrium temperature and equilibrium time on the determination of residual organic solvents were studied. The results show that the standard curves were linear in the range of 1.58 mg/L-158.30 mg/L (r=0.999 7) for methanol and 7.98 mg/L~798.00 mg/L (r=0.999 6)for ethanol. The relative standard deviations (n=6) of precision were 2.14 % and 1.83 % respectively. The average recovery rates (n=5) of methanol and ethanol were 99.72 %(RSD=2.05 %)and 97.21 %(RSD=2.51 %)respectively. The minimum detectable concentration was 0.3 mg/L for methanol and 0.08 mg/L for ethanol. It is a rapid,sensitive,accurate and uncontaminated method.
