On the Li She and Si She in the Period from Warring States to Qin and Han Dynasty

Abstract
Bamboo inscriptions show that there were large numbers of Li(governmental religious unit) in Chu area in Warring States period.Li had paralleled its She.The divine idols of She had different names such as Dizhu and Houtu.Those wizard activities around She were current.While this system continued in Qin and Han dynasty,the She tended to separate from Li.Si She(sacrificing in according to nongovernmental religious unit) can be occasionally found in history records.Making use of bamboo inscriptions,this paper not only testifies their existence in later Han dynasty,but also traces it back to later Qin dynasty.These testimonies are 36 and 177 years earlier than the unique record in Hanshu.
