Surgical treatment of complics intra-articular fractures of the calcaneus

Objective To evaluate the clinical result of surgical treatment of intra-articular fractures of the calcaneus using calcaneus anatomical plate,according to a clinical evaluation on 72 patients.Methods From September 2004 to October 2009,72 patients of calcaneus were collected.Male,61,female,11;From 19-54 years old,the average age was 39.7 years old.1-17 days after injuried.Each patient was performed X-ray and semi-coronal CT scan before and after operation.According to Sanders classification system,there were type III in 40 and type IV in 32,all of the 72 patients were operated with lateral L-type incision and calcaneus anatomical plate.According to the standard of calcaneus fracture of the American surgery association of foot and ankle,4 ranks including excellent,good,fair and poor were using to evaluate the effection.Results Excellent in 14,good in 38,fair in 9,and poor 11.Nounion of incision in 5 patients,arthritis of subtalar joint in 3 patients.Conclusion For well reunion of the Subtalar joint,the clinical result showed that intra-articular fracture of the calcaneus could achieve preferably clinical effect on open reduction and internal fixation.
