Abstract

Based on Laspeyres index and decomposition model, change of energy consumption intensity of China' steel industry from 1992 to 2007 is decomposed into efficiency change and structural change.China's energy intensity has been continuously declined during that period.Declination in energy intensity is mainly due to increasing of efficiency in energy utilization of economic regions;structural change devotes to the declination of energy consumption intensity.Change of the structural share affects energy consumption intensity insignificantly. The decline of energy consumption intensity should rely on capacity adjusting.Three economic regions including Bohai Rim Region,Northeast Region and Central Region should be noticed for the decline of energy consumption intensity of China's steel industry.
