Abstract
Objective To explore the nursing intervention in endoscopic endonasal surgery for benign neoplasm in the infratemporal and pterygopalatine fossa, and improve the nursing quality. Methods Clinical nursing data of 6 patients with benign neoplasm in the infratemporal and pterygopalatine fossa treated with endoscopic endonasal surgery were retrospective analysed. With nursing intervention, 6 patients received the psychological mediation preoperation and vital signs' monitoring postoperation. The state of epistaxis, intracranial complications, orbital and periorbital complications were closely observed. Oral nursing was strengthened to prevent the postoperative infection. Results One case had postoperative bleeding, with complete recovery after treatment. All patients had no intracranial infection or other complications and released after recure. Conclusion The endoscopic endonasal surgery provides efficient treatment for benign neoplasm in infratemporal fossa and pterygopalatine fossa, but the procedures are difficult and the complications are easy to emerge. The key for nursing depends on close observation for complications, and paying attentions to psychological nursing and perioperative education.
