Quantity and Quality Analysis of Cultivated Land in Shilin County

Based on the analysis of the cultivated land,the population,and the dynamic change of grain production in Shilin County since 1996,according to the achievements of the agricultural land grading,the quantity and quality of cultivated land were analyzed.The results showed that the cultivated land and the grain production decreased gently and the cultivated land per capita declined obviously along with the population increasing in Shilin County from 1996 to 2006.The total decrease of the cultivated land in the area was 4 476.33 hm2 within 10 years and the average decrease per year was 447.63 hm2.The average decrease of per capita cultivated land per year in the area was 0.047 hm2.It was difficult to exploit the natural superiority of cultivated land quality to the full because of low management standards of cultivated land and low average input level of investment in Shilin County.The cultivated land's grades in natural quality,utilization,and economy declined in proper order.The cultivated land's main grain productivity was in low and middle level.The main contradiction between the population and the grain production focused on low quality cultivated land and poor land utilization structure.The suggestions were put forward for carrying out a strict system of cultivated land protection,adjusting in land utilization structure and overall arrangement,and making rational plan in order to enhance the capacity of grain production of existing cultivated land reasonably,improve the quality of land,and promote the sustainable utilization of cultivated land resources.
