Abstract

Archetype, the primordial images, as a vital part of collective unconsciousness, emphasizes cultural psychoid and the category of collective unconsciousness. Prototype, a cognitive reference point in the course of categorizing the world, emphasizes cognitive process and creative mind. Though they are studied from different angles, they share some similarities. As a mind model of thinking and explaining phenomena, they are useful in studying some linguistic phenomena.
