Abstract
Objective To compare the efficacy and the safety between Epley procedure and Brandt procedure in patients with posterior semicircular canal benign paroxysmal positional vertigo(PC-BPPV).Methods Seventy-eight patients with PC-BPPV were randomly divided into two groups: Epley(procedure) and Brandt(procedure) group. The remission rates after one week and two weeks were observed. Results The remission rate after one week was 61.9% in the Epley group and 66.6% in the Brandt procedure group, and was 76.1% and 77.6% after two weeks, respectively. There were side effects in seven cases in the Epley group and four cases in the Brandt group. Conclusion Brandt procedure is not only more convenient, but also easier to be received by patients with PC-BPPV.
