Abstract

Objective The early detection of newborn congenital hearing loss. Method Retrospec-tively sum up the results of newborn hearing screening by transiently evoked otoacoustic emission(TEOAE) in 4666 newborn in our hospital from 2002 to 2004.Those infants who failed in the TEOAEtest received middle ear construe and ABR test again when they were in 120 days. Results 46 newbornstest and failed the TEOAE screening in the hospital. middle ear construe infants passed of 45 case , 14infants passed ABR test of both ear(ABR50dBSPL), 16 infants had been confirmed hearing loss of twoears(ABR≥50dBSPL), 16 infants had been confirmed hearing loss of one ear. prevalence of neonatalhearing disorders was 6.86‰(32/4666). Conclusion The middle ear construe and ABR screening wereproved to be an effective method for newborn hearing screening respectively in 6- month old infants,which estabilshes a foundation to interfere in congenital hearing loss in early stage.
