Free Anterolateral Thigh Flap in Repairing of Serious Foot and Ankle Trauma in Children

Abstract
Objective To explore the clinical effect of free anterolateral thigh flap in repairing of serious foot and ankle trauma in children.Methods From Feb.1997 to Jan.2012,free anterolateral thigh flaps were applied in 16 children suffered from serious foot and ankle trauma complicated by soft tissue defects.The mode and timing of surgery and the clinical results were analysed.Results 12 flaps survived well.4 cases appeard artery crisis within 24～48 hours postoperatively.2 flaps survived after blood vessels exploration,but 2 flaps necrosed also.Conclusion Free anterolateral thigh flap is a optimal choice to repair serious foot and ankle trauma complicated by soft tissue defects.The characteristics of free flap transplantation in children should be known well,and the clinical results is satisfactory.
