Abstract

Objective] By means of the investigation in attitude and situation of condom use, the feasibility policy to promote the condom use among the target groups were explored. [Method] Individual interview, group discussion and anonymous questionnaire among six groups at high risk behaviour as well as one control group were carried out by using qualitative and quantitative epidemiological methods. [Results] Floating population and returning labour forces from oversea had a lower rate of condom use, 6.3% and 8.8%, respectively, whereas the university students, who confessed their sexual activities, had high rate of condom use up to 74.1%. The major barrier of condom use was the lack of knowledge that condom can prevent the spreading of STDs/AIDS among those people. 80% of the target people only belived the value of the condom use to prevent pregnant. 95% of them got condom easily from pharmacy or supermarket. [Conclusions] The knowledge of using condom to prevent disease must be educated to the people. Condom should be easily got in some special places in order to raise the rate of condom use. The Floating population and labour forces to oversea must be educated so as to heighten their self-protection abilities and reduce the spread of the diseases.
