Abstract
The material chemical composition and manufacture technical process of powder metal forged connecting rods are introduced.Bases on foreign technique papers and patent specifications about connecting rods in China and other countries,it is compared with fatigue strength and life predictions of forged steel to powder metal forged connecting rods.In this paper, material mechanical properties of specimens obtained from connecting rod and fatigue experiment results of connecting rod components are analyzed and described in detail. Moreover, discussion section is also provided the difference of economic or cost analysis between forged steel and powder metal connecting rods,in case of mass production. Finally,it is provided some conclusions and proposals, with regard to select material and to reduce cost of connecting rods.
