Abstract

Objective To determine the causes of chronic pelvic pain and etiological diagnostic value of laparoscopy. Methods Seven hundreds fourty three patients with chronic pelvic pain were examined with laparoscopy. The clinical pathological material was analyzed retrospectively. Results Among the 743 cases,253 (34.05%) cases had abnormal physical examination before laparoscopy. After laparoscopy, the causes of pelvic pain were comfirmed in all cases but 71 (9.56%),402 (54.10%) cases were suffering from endometriosis, and 112 (15.07%) cases from chronic pelvic inflammation. The dysmenorrhea occurred just in 297 cases (73.88%) with endometriosis. Conclusion Laparoscopy is an excellent and worth advocating method for etiological diagnosis of chronic pelvic pain. But,how we can improve the diagnostic rate of invisible lesion remains further research.
