The retrospective study of percutaneous lumbar diskectomy for lumbar disc herniation

Objective To retrospectively study the effects of percutaneous lumbar diskectomy on lumbar disc herniation.Methods 98 patients with lumbar disc herniation confirmed by clinical symptoms and CT(or MRI)imaging.All of operation was performed under X-ray guidance.A working pipe was inserted from posterolateral approch to destroy the disc contents and the nucleus pulposus were extirpated. Results The patients were followed up from 6 months to 3 years after treatment.After 6 months followed up,the overall effective rate was 89.79%(88/98),excellent in 67 cases(68.37%),good in 21 cases (21.43 %)and bad in 10 cases(10.20%).Three years later,the overall effective rate was 87.76%(86/ 98),excellent in 69 cases(70.41%),good in 17 cases(17.35%)and bad in 12 cases(12.24%).There were no serious complications.Conclusion Percutaneous lumbar diskectomy is one of the effective method for the treatment of lumbar disc herniation.
