An Analysis of Distribution of Floating Population in Guangzhou

The paper depicts the centralization and de-centralization of the floating population in Guangzhou. It points out that there are obvious distinctions between occupation, family and housing of the floating population dwelling in the new and old city zones and suburbs. It also indicates that the occupational structure of floating population has direct influence on its distribution. Although the deep-seated reason for a great deal of floating population centralized in cities is the social and economical development of the city, the most direct reason for the social re-construction of city is the occupational floating of local people and the inner floating of dwelling space of city. With the increase in employment pressure of city and the rebuilding of the old city zones, new influence may be brought to the distribution of floating population in the future.
