Natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery: a new technology with opportunities and challenges

As a new technology,natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery(NOTES) is minimally invasive.Moreover,it meets the patients on the demand of minimally invasive treatment currently.So it also becomes a research focus in the minimally invasive medicine.In earlier stage on the basis of experimental results,the clinical application of NOTES is making progress.However,as a new thing,it still faces many challenges,such as the development of special equipment,clinical application in the reasonable.Although major barriers remain,the potential for truly scarless,safe,and minimally invasive surgery will drive the rapid development.
