Abstract
In the document titled The Strategic Plan for Development of Wuhan in 2049,there is a grand roadmap of the city development from a regional center to a national center,then to a world city; and this raises a higher requirement on the railway planning and construction for Wuhan,a city with great location advantage and development potential,as well as for the surrounding area. In order to improve the national rapid road network structure,enhance the support function of Wuhan railway network,and guide and coordinate railway construction and urban development in a better way,this paper creatively puts forward a new adjustment scheme for Wuhan railway terminal overall planning at a higher perspective,which is based on the in-depth analysis on the current situation and planning scheme of regional railway network in Wuhan,as well as based on the concept ofsystematically integrating the regional railway network resources and reasonably establishing the railway main line networks. In this new adjustment scheme,it is suggested that:( a) a total of 12 radial passenger dedicated lines or intercity railways should be planned and built,including the Beijing-Guangzhou Railway,Beijing-Jiulong Railway,Lanzhou-Fuzhou Railway, Shanghai-Wuhan-Chengdu Railway, Ningbo-Wuhan-Chengdu Railway, Qingdao-Kunming Railway,etc.;( b) two new railway corridors should be additionally built for passing through the Yangtze River;( c) the passenger transport system should be in accordance with the pattern offour main stations and two auxiliary stations. Finally,in the paper it is considered that the landmark railway network structure and the forward-looking general planning will lay the foundation,for Wuhan playing the role of theHigh-speed Railway Tianyuanin the railway network; and will guide the construction development of Wuhan for a long period in the future.
