Abstract

In this paper we point out the challenges to the popular routing protocol named the Border Gateway Protocol (BGP).BGP implementation requires more scalability. We discuss four feasible scaling methods: functionality offload and three different parallel route computing algorithms. Finally we compare these methods against the traditional BGP implementation and conclude the advantages of the distributed BGP implementation technology.
