Abstract
Objective To observe the effect of the calcium antagonist amlodipine on left ventricular concentric remodeling in patients with primary hypertension. Methods In a 6 month randomised single blind trial,60 cases of primary hypertension untreated previously received amlodipine(5 mg,Qd).Mmode and Doppler echocardiography were used to observe the efficacy after 6 months. Results The blood pressure control was achieved with amlodipine(P0.01). Left ventricular mass was reduced significantly. Conclusion Amlodipine is effective in reducing left ventricular mass and left ventricular concentric remodeling in previously untreated hypertension patients.
