Abstract

In the history of western philosophy,Leibniz drew a distinction between logical truth and factual truth. He thought that there were two kinds of truth. One is the truth of reasoning, the other is the truth of facts. The truth of reasoning is necessary truth, the opposite of which is impossible. The truth of fact is accidental, the opposite of which is possible.Hume,Carnap,Russell, and Wittgenstein all inherited Leibniz's idea, insisting on severe distinction between logical truth and factual truth.Meanwhile, they tried to demonstrate the unique characteristics of logical truth. The thesis points out that the boundary of logical truth and factual truth is not absolute. Both logical truth and factual truth reflect the objective fact.In this sense,They are unquestionable.Furthermore, logical truth and factual truth are relative and limited.
