Abstract
Polypropylene (PP)/ montmorillonite (MMT) nano-composites were prepared by mechanical melting blending, in which MMT was firstly organized by quaternary ammonium salt, then modified by in-situ polymerization of butyl acrylate (BA). The micro-structure of the prepared composite was characterized by X-ray diffraction (SAXD), scanning electronic microscopy and electron probe. The results showed that the prepared PP/MMT composites were nano-composites, MMT uniformly dispersed in PP-matrix, and the addition of modified MMT induced the formation of β-form PP crystals.
