Abstract

Objective To study the sensitivity of B95a cell to measles virus (MV) and characteristic of MV in B95a cell. Methods Wild-type MV strain and vaccine MV strain were inoculated in the single layer B95a cells and Vero cells respectively. Cytopathic effect of the cells and the titer of viruses were examined and virus growth curve was drawn. The sensitivities of B95a cells cultured in RPMI1640?DMEM?MEM to measles viruses were compared. Results Both wild-type MV strain and vaccine MV strain could multiple in B95a cell, but only vaccine MV strain in Vero cell. Multipling and release of MV in B95a cell were earlier than that in Vero cell. The cytopathic effect characteristic of measles virus in B95a cell was cell fusion and presented were up to 10 5.0 TCID50/100 μl. The shape and sensitivity of MV in B95a cell were similar in three culture mediums. Conclusion MV culture sensitivity in B95a was higher than that of Vero cell.
