Abstract
Objective For the purpose of assessing the safety of rinse-off cosmetics,the skin and eye irritation of imported cosmetic samples collected in 2007—2013 were tested in rabbits. Methods The skin and eye irritation was tested by the method in Hygienic Standard for Cosmetics( 2007). Results In the skin irritation test for 190 cosmetic samples,no irritation and mild irritation accounted for 50% and 50%,with no any moderate or strong irritation. In eye irritation test for 149 cosmetic samples,no irritation accounted for 27. 5%; mild and slight irritation accounted for 37. 6% and 30. 9% respectively. It means that most of tested samples( 96. 0%) showed slight irritation or under. Conclusion Based on above results,from the point of skin and eye irritation,the samples tested were considered safe.
