Abstract

On the basis of measuring dispersion properties of bismuth nanoparticles which was prepared by DC Arc plasma evaporation in different pH value alcohol solvent, three different dispersants were selected in this investigation. The influences of supersonic dispersing time and surfactant concentration on the dispersion properties of the bismuth nanoparticles in the alcohol solvent were systematically studied,in which PVP,Oleic acid,Poly ethylene glycol were employed as surfactants. The results show that, with the increase in ultrasonic dispersing time and the concentration of PVP and Poly ethylene glycol, the dispersion property of the suspension increases, and then decreases. However, the addition of oleic acid results in a fluctuation of dispersion property. The effect of three surfactants on the dispersion property of the suspension has a descending order as follows: PVPPoly ethylene glycolOleic acid. The optimum dispersion parameters are that the addition of PVP,ultrasonic power and ultrasonic dispersing time are 5 wt%,560 w and 50 min respectively.
