Abstract
English teaching in professional and vocational schools should aim at developing student basic communication ability in real life and work-related situations. The paper briefs the special difficulties in English teaching in professional and vocational schools and proposes taking practical English learning as a departure point to improve student communication ability. Suggestions are made to improve the efficiency of English teaching in vocational schools.
