Abstract
Geospatial metadata is competent for web-oriented geospatial data sharing but has no ability to provide geospatial information service. Based on the analysis of CSDGM structure, this paper expands an extra section of geospatial information metadata profile, which includes one compound element and 11 data elements. These metadata interfaces insure distributed geospatial information services to be found and visited. Two kinds of geospatial information publication schemes are studied and compared. The two schemes are distinguished by their data storage and visiting strategy. The geospatial information services' prototype is designed and developed according to the second scheme. Its tech-flow includes 10 key information processing and 6kinds of necessary technology steps. The development experience has shown that the metadata application profile and related key technologies are suitable for web-oriented geospatial information services.
