Abstract

Objective To investigate expressions of B7-H4,CA125 and P53 in primary epithelial ovarian cancer(EOC) and to explore their relationship with prognosis. Methods Expressions of B7-H4,CA125 and P53 were determined by PV-6000 two-step immunohistochemistry in 70 cases of EOC,20 cases of normal ovarian tissues and 20 cases of benign ovarian tumors. Results The positive rate of B7H4 in epithelial ovarian cancer was 88.5%(62/70),and it was significantly higher than that in benign ovarian epithelial tumors(45%) and normal ovarian tissues (0%).The positive rate of CA125 in epithelial ovarian cancer was 77.1%,and it positively correlated with B7-H4.The positive rate of P53 in epithelial ovarian cancer was 68.6%(48/70),and was significantly lower than B7-H4(P0.05).Multivariate COX regression analysis showed that prognosis of epithelial ovarian cancer was correlated with the FIGO stage, residual tumor size,B7-H4′s positive expression, cell differentiation,CA125′s positive expression,P53′s positive expression and lymph node metastasis.Single factor Kaplan-Meier analysis showed that the intensity the B7-H4 positive expression was negatively correlated with the average survival time of patients and the cumulative five-year survival rates. Conclusion B7-H4 overexpresses in epithelial ovarian cancer and positively correlates with CA125 and is higher than P53 expression.B7-H4 is an independent risk factor of total life span of epithelial ovarian cancer patients. The stronger the B7-H4 expression, the shorter the average life time and the lower the cumulative five-year survival rate.
