An Exploration into the Republican Concept during Drawing up Constitution of the United States

There was a long debate on the nature of Constitution of the United States during Drawing up Constitution,while constitution-maker's abusing the concept of democracy and republic made the debate even more complicated and confusing.This paper sorts out and explains the pure-republicanism's concept of republic,the anti-Federalist concept of republic and Madison's compound concept of republic.At the same time,this paper holds that,with having criticized and analyzed the pure-republican theory and the anti-Federalist republican theory,the compound republican theory tried to keep a balance between power and right.Finally, this paper analyzes the historical logic and the constitutional significance of compound republic based on Constitution of the United States.
