Abstract
The process of direct electroless plating Ni-P on the surface of AM50 magnesium alloy as-casted was investigated.The procedure,plating solution composition and process parameters were introduced.The morphology and microstructure of the electroless Ni-P coating were studied by using SEM and XRD.The results show that the electroless Ni-P coating is compact and no defects obviously.The deposition rate of the electroless Ni-P alloy is about 0.29 μm/min.The microhardness value of the Ni-P coatings is 520 HV and the phosphorus content of the coating is about 11.24 wt%.The adherence of them is 19 N.
