Production Practice to Prevent Breakout at Thin Slab Caster

Abstract

There are two types of breakout at Benxi thin slab caster.One is the breakout caused by longitude crack,and the other is the breakout caused by sticking.By the optimization on converter and LF refining process,the problem of steel quality for casting is solved.Through the development of new SEN,the adjustment of physical characteristics of mould powder and the optimization of operation in the start stage and casting period,the breakout ratio of Benxi thin slab caster is controled to around 0.23%.
