Abstract
This is a review paper on recent works about differentiated services (Diffserv) of Internet. A summary of the technologies considered in the literatures is presented. This paper mainly focuses on such research topics as the Diffserv architecture for the internet, the typical services and technologies of Diffserv, end--to-end QoS provisioning mechanism combining Diffserv and integrated services (Intserv), IP multicast in Diffserv networks, and the fairness considerations on bandwidth allocation in Diffserv networks. Research directions and open problems in this area are also discussed.
