Fecundity and Ovary Development of Peach Fruit Borer Under Short-term High Temperature

Abstract

The emerged female adults of peach fruit borer within 24hours were treated under different high temperature(31℃,34℃ and 37℃)for different treatment time(1h,4h and 8h)to study the effects of short-term high temperature on fecundity and ovary development of peach fruit borer.The results showed that:1)Different high temperature for 1h and 4h treatment time had no significant effect on the fecundity but the effects of temperature and treatment time on the fecundity and hatchability of peach fruit borer rose significantly with increase of temperature and treatment time and the fecundity and hatchability of the emerged female adults under 37℃ for 8h reduced by 41% and 44% compared with CK respectively;2)High temperature resulted in decline of ovary tube length and fresh ovary weight to varying degrees and the ovary tube length and fresh ovary weight of the emerged female adults of peach fruit borer treated under 34℃ for 8h and 37℃ for 8h reduced by 28% and 28%,and 35% and 29% compared with CK respectively.
