On the Zen Poems of WANG An-shi

Abstract
Upon his forced retirement from government, WANG An-shi wrote a large number of poems based on his Zen understanding of the world, many of them typical of the Zen poems not uncommon in Chinese poetry. Zen allusions, Zen concepts and Zen tastes found their way into his poems in a variety of ways, which contributed greatly to the may-layered features of his works.
