Protection of Intangible Cultural Heritage: From Productive Protection to Livelihood Protection

The intangible cultural heritage is culture, and also is life. Based upon the study of the generation and development of security concept of intangible cultural heritage, the awareness of its derivative value as a cultural gene, and the recognition of the symbiotic relationship between intangible cultural heritage and people's deeds and psychology in traditional society, we put forward a significant and strategic principle to protect intangible cultural heritage in a livelihood sense. It essentially means that we should promote the heritance, continuance, and innovation of traditional cultural life style, and meanwhile, we should pursue the spiritual core of modern national culture and promote its transformation and reform from tradition to modernity. This is not only an important measure taken to construct socially participating system of intangible cultural heritage protection, but also is a positive attitude to treat our own culture.
