Abstract

Objective To investigate the effect of prone position ventilation on oxygenation situation in patients withacute respiratory failure(ARF).MethodsForty-six ARF patients were ventilated on prone position for 60 times.One-hour and two-hour respiratory-circulatory indices of supine-and prone-position were monitored.ResultsPaO2 and oxygenation index significantly increased on prone position compared with that of supine position(t=4.042-7.923,P0.01).No statistical differences were found in HR,MAP,PaCO2,airway resistance and compliance of lungs between the two positions(P0.05).If 1.33 kPa increase in PaO2 was regarded as the standard parameter of treatment effectiveness, the effective rate in the prone position ventilation was 86.7%.ConclusionProne position ventilation can significantly improve the oxygenation situation of patients with ARF.
