Abstract
The aerodynamic characteristics of a simplified notchback car with rear wing were studied with numerical methods of moving ground boundary condition with the CFD code STAR-CD.Compared with the test results of the car without rear wing, the aerodynamic coefficients were desirable and the numerical calculation method used for the simulation had enough accuracy and reliability. The drag and lift coefficients of the car with rear wing of different sectional shapes were calculated. It is confirmed that the rear wing with proper sectional shape could improve the wake structure and aerodynamics characteristics.
