Depression, anxiety and relevant factors of students in a technical secondary school

Objective To assess the depression and anxiety symptoms and the relevant factors of students in a technical secondary school. Methods Self-Rating Depression Scale, Zung Self-Rating Anxiety Scale, Life Event Scale, Coping self-efficacy Scale and so on were used in a sample of 98 students in a technical secondary school, Suzhou City. Results Partly participants had obvious depression and anxiety symptoms.Coping self-efficacy and general efficacy had positive correlation with the depression and anxiety, but stress, body symptoms and early memory had negative correlation with them.The major affecting factors for depression and anxiety were coping self-efficacy, body symptoms, stress and early memory. Conclusions Anxiety and depression of technical secondary school students are associated with their self-efficacy, early memory, body symptoms, and stress.
