Abstract
From the crystal chemical characteristic of vermiculite, the paper reviews the modification and characters of organic vermiculite and the application of modified vermiculite in the environment protection and nano-composites material based on discussing the organic intercalation principle of vermiculite. The exchangeable characteristic of cation is the driving force that makes the organic cation intercalate the interlayers. The organic intercalated vermiculites with different interlayer spaces are obtained using amine salt and organic large molecular. The organic modification vermiculite can be used as the sorbent of organic contamination and the precursor of preparing polymer/vermiculite nano-composite materials.
