Abstract

The imperial-financed education system of pursuits of studying abroad in times of Westernization Movement was a pioneering undertaking and great leap in the modern education, which trained and brought up the first generation of outstanding talented professionals such as scientists, technicians, diplomats, politicians and educators. With Westernization-supporters in charge, a whole system of sending students studying abroad was formed with regard to the selection, management, fund-raising, recruitment of returned students and their awarding, which exerted great impact on modem education of China.
