Abstract
Humanistic spirit, an unyielding and untiring spirit of strife for the widespread and realization of the universal human values, consists in the ideas of human rights, of democracy, of liberty, and of equality, and the principle of justice, the disposition of benevolence, thesense of peace, the ideal of universal union etc. Philosophy is much more helpful than other humanities and social sciences in cultivating the humanistic spirit, for which its profound or systematic inquiries into all elements of humanistic spirit set down a hardy cognitive ground, for which its penetrating detection of any system and action violating the imperatives of humanistic spirit prepares a reliable theoretic assurance, and for which its valorous accusations of all kinds of systems and actions running in the opposite direction to the appointment of humanistic spirit supply many examples full of attraction and inspiration. The process in which philosophy promotes the cultivation of humanistic spirit let itself be divided into three acts: helping people in understanding fully the humanistic spirit, making them to believe cordially in it, and inspiring them to perform it actively. Philosophy sets up a great deal of shiny models for the cultivation of humanistic spirit. A lot of philosophers heretofore made their admirable and unforgettable contribution to the widespread and realization of humanistic spirit, among whom stand out elite for democracy, fighters for liberty, judges of justice and saints of benevolence.
