Surgical therapy of stage III and IV breast carcinoma

Abstract
Objective To discuss the surgical therapy about stage Ⅲand Ⅳ breast carcinoma. Method Therapeutic data of 120 patients with breast carcinoma on stageⅢor Ⅳ was summarized,and the patients were followed up.Results The overall survival rate(OS) of 88 stage Ⅲ patients who received modified radical mastectomy was 84.1%,relapse-free survival rate(RFS) was 79.5%,but in 20 stage Ⅲ patients who received radical mastectomy,the OS and RFS were 80% and 70% respectively.The stage Ⅳpatients who had isolated metastasis were treated by radical surgical therapy,the effect was better.Conclusions The stageⅢ patients with breast carcinoma should be mostly treated by surgical therapy,and modified radical mastectomy should be the initial choose. The stage Ⅳpatients who had isolated metastasis should be treated by radical surgical therapy. [
