Abstract

Objective To assess the real-time effect of acupuncture plus ear-tip bloodletting therapy in reducing blood pressure.Method Sixty patients with hypertension were randomized into an observation group(n=30) and a control group(n=30).The observation group was intervened by acupuncture and ear-tip bloodletting, and the control group was managed by ear-tip bloodletting alone. The changes of blood pressure in both groups were evaluated after treatment, and the effect of reducing blood pressure was compared between the two groups after treatment.Result The systolic and diastolic pressures were reduced by(18.17±4.80) mmHg and(10.67±2.99) mmHg respectively in the observation group,versus(11.50±3.66) mmHg and(6.97±2.92) mmHg in the control group. The intra-group comparison of systolic and diastolic pressures had significant differences in both groups(P0.01).The effect of reducing blood pressure in the observation group was significantly better than that in the control group(P0.01).Conclusion Ear-tip bloodletting alone and the combination of acupuncture and ear-tip bloodletting both has real-time effect in reducing blood pressure. However, the combination can achieve better effect.
